When I select the surround mode in my 2010 Taurus , I don't think it is playing in surround. The back speaker and the front speaker play the same channel that sounds like a center channel. When I move the fade to the rear, sound only comes out of the back center speaker. If this is Ford's and Sony's idea of surround sound, they should rethink it. My perception is that surround sound should sound like my home surround sound where left and right channels and diverted to the rear speaker and audio that is mono or centered should come out of the center speaker. Are other people hearing the same thing?

I didn't really notice how the surround setting was working but in stereo mode the audio system does sound alot better. I leave mine in stereo all the time. Most "Surround" settings I'v used for audio never seem to get it right unless I can manually setup the speakers.

I noticed the same thing. I thought it sounded better in surround mode at first, but now find stereo mode has a much fuller sound. I don't know if its the source material or not. I've only had the Taurus for a week. The Sony system has a lot of features, but the THX system used in the Lincolns sounds far cleaner.
